Friends of Chamber Music of Reading Announces 74th Concert Season

The Friends of Chamber Music of Reading (FoCM) is pleased to announce its 74th season of chamber music concerts, an eight-concert series that is free and open to the public. The season begins on Friday, Oct. 2, with the Park-Raymond-Li-Cohen Trio, who will also be featured in a performance with Berks Sinfonietta on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Throughout the season, the organization will feature renowned and acclaimed artists in the chamber music world, alongside rising young stars. Beloved ensembles return to the series while fresh faces join for the first time.

New this season, FoCM will present an Emerging Talent concert featuring local student musicians and award winners of the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association Chamber Music Competition.

Other highlights include Grammy-winners Imani Winds and the chamber music collective ensemble132, which recently collaborated with Philadelphia’s BalletX on a new chamber music production of Stravinsky’s Petrushka. The Aeolus Quartet, with Wyomissing native Rachel Kitagawa Shapiro returns for its 17th appearance on the series, this year joined by venerable musicians Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson.

Together with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, FoCM will celebrate a weekend of Beethoven with the Amara Piano Trio. The RSO concert on Saturday, March 13, will feature the virtuosic Triple Concerto followed by the Fifth Symphony. On Sunday, March 14, the ensemble performs Beethoven’s Archduke Trio alongside Brahms’ C Major Trio at the WCR Center for the Arts.

The season closes with a weekend celebration marking 30 years with the Brentano String Quartet, with performances at the WCR Center for the Arts and Trinity Lutheran Church.
