Hope Rescue Mission held its annual Gala on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading, bringing together community members, businesses, churches, and supporters to celebrate lives being changed and raise critical funds for Hope Rescue Mission’s work in the greater Reading community.
The evening featured dinner, guest stories, ministry updates, silent auctions, raffles, and opportunities to support Hope Rescue Mission’s ongoing work serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
“The Gala is a celebration of what God is doing through Hope Rescue Mission and through the tremendous generosity of this community,” said Robert Turchi, CEO of Hope Rescue Mission. “Every day, we have the privilege of walking alongside people who are working to overcome tremendous challenges and move toward stability and a new future. We could not do this work without the businesses, churches, organizations, volunteers, and individuals who faithfully come alongside our Mission and our guests.”
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the David H. Roland Award to Recovery Coaching Services Inc. in recognition of the organization’s tireless work at Hope Rescue Mission walking alongside individuals and families affected by substance use disorder.
“Recovery Coaching Services has been an extraordinary partner in caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our community,” said Kate Alley, Executive Director of LightHouse Women & Children’s Center, a ministry of Hope Rescue Mission. “Their team meets people where they are, builds relationships, and continues walking alongside them through the difficult work of recovery. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our guests and honored to recognize them with the David H. Roland Award.”
Hope Rescue Mission has served the Greater Reading community for more than a century, providing shelter, meals, and comprehensive support to people experiencing homelessness and other significant life challenges. Its ministries seek to address not only immediate needs but also the barriers that can prevent individuals and families from achieving long-term stability.
Through partnerships with organizations throughout Berks County, Hope Rescue Mission connects guests with resources including case management, healthcare, mental health and recovery services, employment and educational opportunities, housing assistance, and spiritual support.
