The City of Reading and the Reading Police Department recognized members of the department during a promotion ceremony held this week, celebrating their advancement into new leadership and investigative roles.
The ceremony included the swearing-in of personnel recently promoted to the ranks of captain, lieutenant, sergeant, and criminal investigator. The promotions recognize the experience, dedication, and continued service of these members to the Reading community.
“Today, we recognize members of our Police Department who have demonstrated their commitment to serving and protecting the people of Reading,” said Mayor Eddie Morán. “These promotions reflect the trust placed in their leadership, experience, and professionalism. I congratulate each of them and their families, and I look forward to the continued work they will do on behalf of our great city.”
Police Chief Javier Ruiz also congratulated the promoted members and recognized the responsibility that comes with their new positions.
“Each of these promotions represents a significant accomplishment and a new level of responsibility,” said Chief Ruiz. “These men have earned the opportunity to lead, mentor, and continue serving our department and our community. I am proud of their work and look forward to what they will accomplish in their new roles.”
The following members were recognized during the ceremony:
- Captains: Captain Melville Fegely and Captain Scott Errington.
- Lieutenants: Lieutenant Stephen Butler, Lieutenant Bradley McClure, and Lieutenant William Pletcher.
- Sergeants: Sergeant Timothy Morris, Sergeant Kyle Kunkle, Sergeant Ryan Crampsie, Sergeant Macklin Stoddard, and Sergeant Peter Clauss.
- Criminal Investigators: Criminal Investigator Drew Zebertavage and Criminal Investigator William Fursin.
