Nature Stroll & Roll Returns This Fall

Reading District Libraries’ DOR (Dignity, Opportunity, Respect) Committee, in partnership with Berks Nature, will host the next Nature Stroll & Roll on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Berks Nature, 575 St. Bernardine St., Reading.

Nature Stroll & Roll is an all-ages program designed with accessibility and mobility in mind. Whether participants are walking, using a cane or walker, rolling with a wheelchair, or simply prefer a slower-paced outing, the program offers a relaxed way to experience the outdoors. Participants can walk, roll, or relax at their own pace, with opportunities to pause, explore, socialize, and enjoy nature together.

The DOR Committee has moved this fall’s event to a Saturday to make the program more accessible to community members who may have difficulty attending weekday events. A Saturday schedule can also make it easier for participants to attend with family members, friends, or others who can provide transportation or support.

“We heard from participants that transportation and weekday schedules can make it difficult to participate in programs like this,” said Marissa Guidara, Youth Services District Consultant with Reading District Libraries. “Moving Nature Stroll & Roll to a Saturday gives more people the opportunity to come with family or friends and experience the outdoors together.”

The event is presented by the DOR Committee, a Reading District Libraries initiative made up of library staff from across Berks County who work together to develop resources and opportunities that promote welcoming and empowering library experiences and meaningful connections with the communities they serve.

Reading District Libraries is a department of Reading Public Library, which serves as the state-designated District Library Center for the region. Reading District Libraries provides an ecosystem of support for all 25 public library locations in Berks County through consultation, shared resources, district-wide initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration.

Berks Nature, which has served the Berks County community since 1974, works to connect people with the natural world through land preservation, water protection, trail management, community gardens, education programs, and other community partnerships.
