Reading Science Center Celebrates Expanded Exhibit Space with Free Community Event

There’s more room for curiosity at the Reading Science Center! On October 3rd, the Science Center will celebrate its growing museum with a free day of hands-on science, special activities, and a ribbon cutting for its expanded exhibit space.

The project has added approximately 2,696 square feet of exhibit space, giving visitors more opportunities to explore, experiment, and interact with science. The expanded space is already making an impact, with school groups using the new exhibits, classrooms, and lunch area during field trips
throughout the year.

The expanded exhibit space is part of the Reading Science Center’s plan for continued growth at its current location and has been made possible through support from the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program, local businesses, individual donors, and community partners. While visitors are
already enjoying the new exhibits, the Science Center is continuing to raise funds for the next phase of the project, including renovations to additional classroom space.

The community is invited to celebrate on October 3, 2026, with the official ribbon cutting and unveiling taking place at 12:00 p.m. Admission, generously sponsored by EnerSys, will be free all day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., giving families the opportunity to explore the museum and experience the
new space for themselves.

Young visitors will help make the ribbon cutting especially memorable with a special unveiling ceremony and confetti celebration. EnerSys volunteers will be on hand to help celebrate the occasion, with special electrifying classroom activities for visitors throughout the day in addition to a Spooky Science
Investigation Station.

The celebration is an opportunity for the Reading Science Center to thank the community that has helped make its growth possible while giving families a chance to experience firsthand how the additional space is expanding opportunities for STEM learning.
