From Reading Symphony Orchestra
The Reading Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will welcome over 1,500 students from Reading and Berks County school districts to Santander Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 19, for Imagery Through Sound, an educational concert experience exploring the connections between music, movement, and imagination.
Led by Music Director Andrew Constantine, the program introduces students to the expressive power of orchestral music through works by Edvard Grieg and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, along with music from the beloved Harry Potter films. Dancers from Berks Ballet Company will join the orchestra, bringing music to life through movement and demonstrating how artistic disciplines can work together to tell stories, evoke emotions, and create vivid images in the imagination.
Designed to make classical music accessible and engaging for young audiences, Imagery Through Sound invites students to listen actively, discover how composers use sound to communicate ideas, and experience the dynamic relationship between a live orchestra and dance.
The program reflects the Reading Symphony Orchestra’s commitment to music education and to creating meaningful opportunities for young people to experience the performing arts. By combining familiar melodies with celebrated orchestral works and live dance, the concerts offer students an engaging introduction to the richness and versatility of symphonic music.
The concerts are free and open to all schools and school districts throughout Berks County, as well as homeschool students. Educators and homeschoolers interested in participating are encouraged to contact the RSO for additional information.
