From Reading Symphony Orchestra
The Reading Symphony Orchestra (RSO) presents an enchanting evening of passion, romance, and orchestral splendor with “Valentine’s with Romeo & Juliet,” a special concert event set for Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading.
This Valentine’s Day performance showcases a richly romantic program featuring beloved selections from operatic and symphonic repertoire. Audiences will be transported through iconic works by Giacomo Puccini and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, culminating in the evocative orchestral tone poem Romeo & Juliet — a masterful musical expression of Shakespeare’s timeless tale of love and fate. Make the RSO part of your Valentine’s date!
The concert program includes:
- Selections from Puccini’s La Bohème, Le Villi, Gianni Schicchi, Edgar, and Turandot
- Tchaikovsky’s selections from Sleeping Beauty and Eugene Onegin
- The dramatic and lyrical Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet
- Performers include Toni Marie Palmertree, soprano, Charles Reid, tenor, and Andrew Constantine, conductor.
“We are delighted to offer this evening of passionate music that beautifully complements the spirit of Valentine’s Day,” said Music Director Andrew Constantine. “From Puccini’s heartfelt arias to Tchaikovsky’s lush orchestral colors, this program celebrates the many facets of love through the power of music.”
The performance is presented in collaboration with the Berks Opera Company, enhancing the evening’s operatic highlights with rich dramatic flair and world-class artistry.
