YMCA Recognizes Staff Excellence, Leadership, and Service Milestones at 167th Annual Meeting

In honor of its heritage and 167-year legacy, the YMCA of Reading & Berks County celebrated excellence, leadership, and long-standing dedication to the community at its 167th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 14. The annual event recognized outstanding staff through the 2025 CEO Choice Awards, welcomed new board members, honored employees reaching significant service milestones, and thanked those who completed their terms.

Introducing newly elected board members

The newly elected board members who were appointed to serve and guide the future of the YMCA are:

The Y is grateful for the service of the retiring board members: Berks County District Attorney John Adams; Certified Professional Coach & Mediator Robin Costenbader-Jacobson, RCJ Consulting Associates; and Head of Frontline Communications Ellen Nonnemacher, AT&T.

These appointments further strengthen the YMCA’s mission-driven leadership as the organization expands its reach and impact. Together, the board and staff remain committed to leading with integrity, respect, and a caring spirit grounded in YMCA values.

Honoring excellence: 2025 CEO Choice Awards

At the Annual Meeting, the YMCA recognized the recipients of the 2025 CEO Choice Awards, honoring employees who exemplify excellence, leadership, and commitment to the Y’s mission. Each honoree reflects the diverse strengths and collaborative spirit that drive the organization forward.

This year’s CEO Choice Award recipients are:

“These individuals go above and beyond every day to strengthen our communities and bring our mission to life,” said Phillip Borup, President & CEO of the YMCA of Reading & Berks County. “Their dedication, leadership, and care for others truly represent the best of the Y.”
