From Berks Arts
Berks Arts’ 35th anniversary celebration kicks off with the Berks Arts Award Night on Thursday, March 19, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 701 Penn St., Reading. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the ceremony starts at 7 p.m.
The event, which is free to the public and accepts donations at the door, will feature light hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, music by the winners of the Chuck Loeb Memorial Scholarship, “The Baseless Trio,” and the Art of Jazz exhibit on display. Berks Arts will also honor the winners of the Pagoda Award, Frank Scott Award, John Ernesto Volunteer Award, and the Art of Jazz exhibit.
With Gabe Perry on piano, Aidan Wilson on guitar, and Dexter Sales on drums, the group is this year’s recipient of the Chuck Loeb Memorial Jazz Ensemble Scholarship and will perform at the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest Award Night.
“It feels great that the effort you’re putting into the instrument and then having fun but also seeing the outcome,” Wilson said. “Big thanks to RMF and Berks Arts for that. These scholarship opportunities really help to see where you can improve.”
