Tower Health’s Slam Dunk Mammo Screening Month is in full swing, as staff share an important message with the community: early detection is a game-changer.
Patients and community members will be entered to win a health and wellness prize pack valued at $150.00 if they mention #TowerSlamDunk while scheduling or completing their annual mammogram at any of Tower Health’s locations in Berks, Montgomery, and Chester counties, or on the traveling Mobile Mammography Coach, now through Tuesday, March 31.
“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and many have no family history of breast cancer. Annual screening is important because physicians can quickly identify any changes that may occur from the previous year,” said Dr. Kendra Winter, breast surgeon at Tower Health Medical Group Breast Health Center, Wyomissing. “It’s our hope that if we continue to talk about this important topic all year, more women will schedule this very important appointment.”
Annual screening mammograms are recommended to begin at age 40 for women at average risk of breast cancer. For women at higher risk, annual mammograms may begin earlier. A doctor’s order is not required to schedule a screening mammogram.
