All politics is local, as someone once said. As Susan Sneeringer demonstrates in her newest play, all politics is personal, too.
Sneeringer’s play “Fourteen Votes” is the latest in the Reading Theater Project’s Play Reading Series. The reading, featuring script-in-hand performances by local actors, will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Blvd., Wyomissing.
This play centers around an interview by a young woman of her aunt, and the woman’s history of voting. “Fourteen Votes” examines the impact of the 2024 election on two sisters and the daughter of one caught between them. It raises questions of civic responsibility, the generational divide, and family loyalty stretched to the limit. The reading is directed by John Gancar.

About the playwright
Sneeringer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Penn State University and completed a one-year screenwriting fellowship at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. A two-time recipient of grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, she is also a published playwright. Her plays have received both staged readings and full productions in theatres in Reading, Allentown, Philadelphia, and New York City. Previously, RTP has included her recent play, HOLY ORDERS, in its 2024 “Discovery” Reading Series.
