New Monthly Blues & Boogie Jam Series at Cheers Bistro

New Monthly Blues & Boogie Jam Series at Cheers Bistro

From Dave Kline Productions

A new monthly blues and boogie jam series called “Busker Incognito’s Blues & Boogie Jam” at Cheers Bistro in the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Reading will begin on Thursday, May 14, from 7-9 p.m. each jam.

“The DoubleTree was originally envisioned as a place where the community could come together,” said Chris Shellhammer, president of the hotel. “We’ve worked to create a fresh new environment — great food and drinks, and entertainment that brings people in and keeps them connected. We believe the hotel’s founders, especially Al Boscov, would be proud of the many improvements we’ve made. Our Blues and Boogie nights are just one example of how we’re setting the stage for that connection.”

The sessions will feature the regional band Busker Incognito & the SHOW as the host band, with various VIP guest artists showcasing their amazing musical talent at every jam session. The jam format will generally feature the house band during the first hour, with the VIP guest artist joining in during the second hour.

The current VIP guest artist lineup includes:

The vibe will be relaxed, congenial, creative, and energetic, with dancing, singing, and clapping highly encouraged. A full food and beverage menu will be offered, and any attendees who eat at Cheers Bistro during the jam get free parking in the garage adjoining the hotel. There is no coverage charge and no minimum. This is truly an opportunity to come out to the hub, relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the music and the experience. No reservations are required.

“Creating a monthly blues and boogie music hub at Cheers Bistro in downtown Reading is an exciting extension of all of the wonderful musical festival events at the hotel,” said Dave Kline, session music director and band leader. “Our house band is going to be high-energy, and our VIP guest artists are all fabulous! As someone who has worked throughout the past four decades with community leaders like Albert Boscov, Craig Poole, and every former Reading mayor from Mayor Warren Haggerty up to the present administration, (for the purpose of creating meaningful events in Reading and Berks County), I am very pleased to help Chris Shellhammer and his team bring this initiative to life as we work together to continue to grow a community gathering spot for music and the arts, showcasing the underserved blues and boogie music genres in Reading and Berks County.”

Throughout the sessions, there will be sponsorship and underwriting opportunities for those interested, community-minded music and event patrons looking to connect with this collaborative effort.
