‘Showgirl’: Fashion Show Event by Local Fashion Designer

By Brianna Beidler, Fashion Designer, Yocum Institute for Arts Education Costume Designer

Brianna Beidler will host her second full-scale fashion show on Saturday, May 30, at 7 p.m., at the WCR Center for the Arts in Reading, PA. The show will showcase her newest collection of 15 looks set to release on Sunday, May 31, on briannabeidler.com, while including various live music performances and offerings from other local vendors. This is an event for people of all ages to experience and enjoy a night of art and fashion with their local community.

“Showgirl” is a collection inspired by the circus and performance as a whole. It aims to place an emphasis on the many different ways femininity is presented to and perceived by our culture. Each piece has been handcrafted and assembled by Brianna Beidler within her studio in Reading, PA, with the intention of reducing excess fabric waste and harmful mass-production practices. She is just one voice from a larger movement that is attempting to vocalize the harm that fast fashion has on our planet.

“I’m really hoping to bring a new perspective to the area on how we consume clothing and perceive our fashion choices. Slow fashion is more attainable and sustainable for our local communities than you may think, and I’m aiming to showcase this to the community in a way that excites them,” said Brianna Beidler.
