City of Reading Announces Juneteenth Commemoration and Holiday Operations Schedule

The City of Reading, in partnership with the Reading Branch of the NAACP, will host a Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony on Friday, June 19, at noon, in City Park (base of stairs exiting the basketball courts along Columbus Drive) to commemorate Juneteenth, the federal holiday recognizing the end of slavery in the U.S.

Mayor Eddie Morán will join community leaders, residents, and members of the NAACP for the ceremony and will deliver remarks recognizing the significance of the holiday and its continued importance in American history.

In recognition of Juneteenth, the City of Reading will also illuminate City Hall and the Pagoda in red, black, green, and yellow on the evenings of Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20.

Holiday service reminder

Reading City Hall will be closed on Friday, June 19.

No street sweeping operations will take place.

Trash and recycling collection services will continue as scheduled.
