UGI Energy Services, a subsidiary of UGI Corporation (NYSE: UGI), brought employees together to assemble brand-new bicycles and provide helmets for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, giving local children new opportunities for mobility, independence, and outdoor play. The volunteer event was held in the lead-up to the Philadelphia Cycling Classic, sponsored by AmeriGas, which is also a UGI Corporation subsidiary. It was one of nine bicycle-building events held at UGI offices across the country, where team members assembled a total of 73 bicycles for donation.
“The transformation underway at AmeriGas begins with our people,” said Michael Sharp, President of AmeriGas. “What happened today in Wyomissing, with employees showing up, rolling up their sleeves, and giving local kids something meaningful, reflects the company we are building. We are proud to connect our title sponsorship of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic to our communities, and we look forward to celebrating everything our workforce has helped make possible when the race comes to Philadelphia on Aug. 30.”
After more than a decade on pause due to a lack of support, the iconic Philadelphia Cycling Classic will return this summer with AmeriGas as the title sponsor. For AmeriGas, the investment reflects a belief that major events can create a lasting impact when they are connected to the communities around them. In partnership with Race Street Partners, the bicycle race will cap off an exciting season in Philadelphia and provide free, accessible entertainment to families across the region.
The bike builds are taking place at AmeriGas and UGI locations in June and July, including Houston, TX; Cleveland, OH; Charlotte, NC; Wyomissing, PA; Rocklin, CA; Denver, PA; Valley Forge, PA; Reading, PA; and Wilkes-Barre, PA.
“A bicycle is one of the most powerful gifts you can give a young person,” said Eli Perez, Program Administrator at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, PA. “It can open up their world in ways that are hard to put into words. What AmeriGas and UGI employees did today for our agency will make a real difference for the young people we serve. We are grateful for this partnership and proud to help get these bikes to local children.”
The Philadelphia Cycling Classic presented by AmeriGas returns to Philadelphia on Aug. 30, 2026. The race follows a 14.1-mile circuit beginning at Logan Square, running along the Schuylkill River and climbing the legendary Manayunk Wall, a challenging 17% grade on Levering Street and Lyceum Avenue that has defined the race since its earliest days. In partnership with Race Street Partners, AmeriGas is proud to reintroduce this iconic event. For full race details and a livestream on race day, visit PhiladelphiaCyclingClassic.com.
