Pennsylvania State Police to host citizens’ police academy

The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) at the Pennsylvania State Police Reading station.

The program will expand citizen’s knowledge and understanding of the law and explore police procedure from the perspective of the Pennsylvania State Police. The Citizens’ Police Academy involves approximately 20 hours of instruction taught in 2 hour segments. The program is scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 1 and end Wednesday, May 3. Participants meet each Wednesday night for 10 weeks from 6:30pm – 8:45pm. Students must attend 75% or more of the scheduled classes in order to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate.

Class size is limited to allow greater interaction between students and instructors. Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvania. Applications can be picked up at the PA State Police Reading station located at: 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 or applicants can email [email protected] to request an electronic e-mail application. Deadline for application submission will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
