The inaugural KING OF CLAY Pro Tennis Challenge will bring professional tennis to Schuylkill County with a fun weekend 1-day event at the Abel Family Tennis Center In Orwigsburg, PA at the home of Mark and Elisabeth Abel.
The first player confirmed is KP Pannu of New Zealand. The Kiwi just made his first ATP 500 level tournament this week at the Citi Open in Washington DC taking out former Ellesse Pro Tennis Champion Denis Kudla in qualifying.
He was a 2023 ATP 250 Main Draw Qualifier for the Auckland ATP 250 event to start the season.
The second player confirmed is Holden Koons. Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Koons climed the college ranks playing #1 at James Madison University as the CAA Conference player of the Year. Koons will continue his tennis career at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem North Carolina this Fall and has played in various ITF Futures Tournaments and professional tournaments.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
- 12noon: Pro-Am Doubles (1-set) w/ KP Pannu & Holden Koons
- 12:45pm Junior Exhibition including: Emma Perkins- PIAA State Champion from Conrad Weiser & Anthony Kircher: #2 ranked junior player in his class in the country (Class of 2030).
- 1:30pm: Pro Singles Match: KP PANNU vs. HOLDEN KOONS (2 out of 3 sets with 10 point match tiebreaker)
