Donald F. Reinhold, Ph.D. ‘44 Memorial Chemistry and Biochemistry Lecture: Ross J. Salawitch, Ph.D. 

April 26, 3 p.m., Science Lecture Hall (SCI 256) 

Ross Salawitch is a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he specializes in the quantification of the effects of human activity on the composition of Earth’s atmosphere using computer models and observations. Salawitch’s research focuses on air quality, stratospheric ozone depletion, the global carbon cycle and climate change. He has published many research articles on these topics, with several appearing in the prestigious journals for Science and Nature. Salawitch is the lead author of the 2018 and 2022 Updates to the Twenty Questions and Answers About Ozone Layer: Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion. In the fall of 2022, he was elected to be a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, an honor bestowed on less that 0.1% of members. This year’s Reinhold lecture is a key component of Albright’s Earth Week celebration.
