Community Media Internship Program

BCTV offers internships in the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters each year. Students work side-by-side with our staff to develop their skills and learn about all aspects of community media by participating in live event coverage, camera and technical operations, audio/video components, customer service, community relations, and in-studio programming. Additional opportunities may include content and digital file management, creation of website and social media content, participation in organization events, creative video and graphics production, and other administrative duties. Studies in a related field, and interest in local community topics preferred.

Interns generally work between 12-25 hours weekly based on the department requirements set forth by their college, university, or school. Internship programs begin and end based on the date requirements of their school. Credited education programs preferred. A limited number of high school student intern/work experience programs are available each semester and will be based on the parameters of each school’s program but usually are one day per week for 3-5 hours.

BCTV is located at 401 Penn Street, Reading, PA at the CollegeTowne campus of Alvernia University in the John R. Post Center. Interns will be provided with parking at no charge.

Because semester calendars vary from school to school, we handle all internship opportunities based on the schedule below. Interviews will be held during the two-week period following the application due date. Please note that we are unable to interview everyone who applies, and internship opportunities are limited so we are unable to host internships for all applicants.
