SUMMARY:Canteen Volunteer
DESCRIPTION:Someone needs to give out snacks with a smile while monitoring the donors and making sure they are doing well after donating. Why not you? \nHave fun meeting new people and helping your community at the same time! \nCanteen Attendants tend to blood donors after the donation process is complete. They offer a drink and a snack while ensuring the donor is feeling well and remains in the canteen for at least 15 minutes. \nVolunteers can help at a variety of blood drives in the community at schools\, businesses\, churches\, or other community organizations. You choose when and where you would like to volunteer. It could be once a month or as often as you would like. Most of the need is during the workday. We are sorry\, but we cannot help fulfill court-ordered adult community service hours. We are not currently working with employment agencies or placement agencies. \nWe are in need of canteen volunteers in Berks County\, Northern Berks County\, Montgomery County\, Chester County\, and the Boyertown area. Every two seconds\, someone needs blood. Please consider helping us make sure it is available.

SUMMARY:Adoption Event at Animal Rescue League of Berks County
DESCRIPTION:Pictured above\, from left to right: Available cat Tulip\, and available dogs Tweety and Luna. \n\n\n\nHollywood Casino\, Morgantown\, is sponsoring an adoption event at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County (ARL) on Wednesday\, May 13.  During this one-day event\, adoption fees for animals 6 months of age and older will be waived. \n\n\n\nThe event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the ARL\, located at 58 Kennel Road\, Birdsboro\, PA. This sponsorship provides the opportunity for community members to welcome a new pet into their homes while helping shelter animals find families of their own. \n\n\n\nBringing a new family member into a home takes time and careful consideration. Potential adopters should be prepared to complete an adoption profile and meet with an adoption counselor to ensure the best possible match for their home\, family\, and lifestyle. \n\n\n\nAdopters are encouraged to bring all household members to meet their potential new pet. Those adopting dogs should also bring any resident dogs for a meet-and-greet. Dog adopters must be prepared to pay $11.30 for a Pennsylvania dog license\, as required by law\, and should bring a collar and leash (or purchase one at the ARL). Cat adopters should bring a carrier or may purchase one at the shelter. \n\n\n\nNo appointments are necessary for this event. Guests may experience extended wait times due to the popularity of sponsored adoption days. \n\n\n\nTo view available animals ahead of time\, please visit berksarl.org/pets. \n\n\n\nAbout the Animal Rescue League of Berks County\n\n\n\nThe Animal Rescue League of Berks County is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization caring for nearly 5\,000 animals each year to help them find second chances in a new home or to help reunite them with their grateful owners. For over 70 years\, the organization has worked tirelessly to care for the sick\, treat the injured\, comfort the unwanted\, and protect the abused. Whether helping people in need keep their pets through surrender prevention programs\, offering low-cost veterinary services and clinics\, as well as outreach and education events throughout the county\, the ARL’s work goes far beyond the walls of the shelter.
