SUMMARY:Canteen Volunteer
DESCRIPTION:Someone needs to give out snacks with a smile while monitoring the donors and making sure they are doing well after donating. Why not you? \nHave fun meeting new people and helping your community at the same time! \nCanteen Attendants tend to blood donors after the donation process is complete. They offer a drink and a snack while ensuring the donor is feeling well and remains in the canteen for at least 15 minutes. \nVolunteers can help at a variety of blood drives in the community at schools\, businesses\, churches\, or other community organizations. You choose when and where you would like to volunteer. It could be once a month or as often as you would like. Most of the need is during the workday. We are sorry\, but we cannot help fulfill court-ordered adult community service hours. We are not currently working with employment agencies or placement agencies. \nWe are in need of canteen volunteers in Berks County\, Northern Berks County\, Montgomery County\, Chester County\, and the Boyertown area. Every two seconds\, someone needs blood. Please consider helping us make sure it is available.

SUMMARY:Into to Backpacking - Part 2\, Pack Management
DESCRIPTION:In part 2 of this 3 part series\, we will focus on another essential backpacking skill: how to properly pack and carry your gear for an overnight trip. \nDuring this guided hike at Monocacy Reserve\, Morgan will walk through how to calculate an ideal pack weight\, how to distribute that weight for comfort and efficiency\, and what you truly need in your pack for a successful overnight experience. We’ll also cover how to organize your gear so important items are within reach when you need them most. \nAs we move along the trail\, we will discuss proper posture and body awareness when carrying a loaded pack\, helping you move more efficiently and reduce strain over longer distances. \nThe hike will be a 4 mile loop\, gaining approximately 685 feet in elevation. You are encouraged to bring your own pack\, loaded or unloaded if you want hands-on practice adjusting\, organizing\, and carrying your gear. The hike will feel more challenging\, but it offers a great opportunity to build strength\, confidence\, and experience on the trail. \nThis is Part 2 of a three-part Intro to Backpacking series. The final session will be a guided overnight experience on the Appalachian Trail\, where participants will apply the skills learned throughout the series.
