Humor and Hope: Berks Sinfonietta in concert
August 13, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$5 – $15
Saturday, August 13, 2022, Berks Sinfonietta begins its ninth season with a live concert titled “Humor and Hope.” The program features Beethoven’s lighthearted Symphony No. 8 and Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major. The orchestra also celebrates Ralph Vaughan Williams on the 150th anniversary of his birth with the Overture to “The Wasps.”
Featuring the Farrenc symphony, Berks Sinfonietta continues its focus on programming music by female composers on a regular and equal basis. “Louise Farrenc was a gifted composer who wrote music that was well-received in her day, but which is rarely programmed today,” stated Artistic Director Dr. David McConnell. “Our job is to give this great music a voice.”
The performance takes place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 7:30 pm at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd. in Wyomissing. The evening’s concert will also be live streamed online by visiting www.berkssinfonietta.org at the scheduled date and time. “We want audiences to engage with our music however they feel comfortable,” said James Gilmer, Co-Founder of Berks Sinfonietta. “We’ve worked hard to make great music accessible to all, whether they choose to watch online or attend in person.”
Admission to the live performance is $15/Adult & $5/Students. Tickets are available at the door and online at https://berkssinfonietta.ticketspice.com/august-2022-humor-and-hope.
