July Featured Artist Reception featuring artwork from Kenneth Liskey and Bob Renda

July 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Stop in the Art & Craft Gallery of Hamburg (320 State Street, Hamburg, PA) on July 9th from 12:00pm-4:00pm to view work by July’s featured artists, Kenneth Liskey and Bob Renda. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.

Kenneth Liskey
Ken Liskey is a resident of Bernville and has been affiliated with several artist groups in Schuylkill and Berks Counties. Ken started painting around 1980 as a hobby, and then took classes for five years in oil painting. When he started painting, he tried a variety of mediums but chose oil paintings as his personal favorite. He strives for realism in his art, for he uses oils to paint outdoor scenes of wildlife, places of interest that he’s visited, lighthouses and historic places. He likes to keep his art affordable so others can enjoy having original art in their homes. He has won several awards at various shows in Schuylkill and Berks Counties. Ken’s advice for anyone interested in art is not to be afraid to try. Taking lessons, even just a few, can instigate new ideas and techniques and give you the tools to move forward to find your own style and method.
Bob Renda
In 2018, Bob Renda came across a book on carving at the community library. After trying to carve a green man, a Celtic knot and some figures in basswood, he found YouTube videos on other styles of carving from chip carving to busts in stone. Once he came across spoon and bowl carving, things clicked. Bob has been carving spoons and bowls ever since. A spoon is a remarkably complex sculptural object that has to function well and look good. Spoon carving is hugely popular in the UK and Europe. Several green woodworking Facebook groups currently provide a community to learn and become inspired. Designing spoons and bowls that are both functional and attractive is a fun and fascinating challenge. Chip carving and kolrosing are two new decorative styles Bob is currently mastering. Bob currently makes spoons, bowls, walking stick toppers, figures and other objects. Several area shops display his carvings and he also does custom commissions for gifts and special events.
