Strengthening Families Program

The Council on Chemical Abuse will introduce a new cohort of the Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14 in April. During the seven-week program, held virtually, our certified prevention specialists engage children and parents/guardians in fun and thought-provoking activities that strengthen family bonds and focus on youth protective and risk factors. Strengthening Families 10-14 is a program designed to build family relationships, decrease conflict and teach youth aged 10-14 the skills to resist peer pressure and avoid risky behaviors.

• helps parents/caregivers learn nurturing skills that support their children,
• teaches parents/caregivers how to effectively discipline and guide their youth,
• gives youth a healthy future orientation and an increased appreciation of their parents/caregivers, and
• teaches youth skills for dealing with stress and peer pressure.
