“Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Giancarlo Menotti

A disabled boy, Amahl, lives alone with his widowed mother in Palestine. He often tells tall tales, so when he says a star as big as a window is shining overhead, she is wearily skeptical. But when three kings arrive, journeying with precious gifts for a wondrous child, miracles happen. Since its premiere on NBC TV in 1951, as the very first Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Special, Giancarlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors” has become an essential holiday classic. Performed all over the world, it has been seen by more people than any other opera. Berks Opera Company presents this heartwarming story for children of all ages in collaboration with Albright College.
