Faramarz Farbod interviews Ervand Abrahamian, emeritus distinguished professor of modern Iran’s history and of the Middle East. He has taught at Oxford, Columbia, and the Baruch college, city university of New York. He is the author of many books on Iran, including Khomeinism, A History of Modern Iran, The Coup, and most recently Oil Crisis in Iran. He is currently working on a book about the 1979 revolution. This conversation covers his early life, the 1953 CIA-backed coup, Khomeinism, the 1979 revolution, and the current social movement known as “women, life, freedom”.
