Save on heating bill – keep warm with Berks County Wines

As winter arrives, warmth and escape from the cold is top of everyone’s mind.  Of course, we’ve been distracted from the cold by the frenzy of the holidays, but winter’s sharp bite still lurks and we all know it will be around for a few months. Looking for an easy & fun way to put winter’s icy temps behind you?  Stop by the wineries of the Berks County Wine Trail on Saturday January 14th and Sunday January 15th 2017 for expedient warm up!  At each winery along the Berks County Wine Trail, samples of featured Pennsylvania produced wines will be served up with an array of creative warmers ranging from soups, chili, stews, warmed spiced wines and more. This event is free, and no reservations required.  Event is Noon to 5 PM both days.

January is also a great time get out and replenish one’s wine cellar after the holidays, too!  Not only will the featured wines during this event be great to consider to bring home by the bottle,  but this will be a great weekend plan your own self-guided tour to explore each wineries’ full wine bar tasting menus, too.

Some warm thoughts to think about in anticipation of this wine and warm foodie event are wines such as Merlot from both Weathered Vineyards winery & Stone Barn Cellars;  Chambourcin from Pinnacle Ridge Winery; or Spiced Apple Wine from Bashore & Stoudt Country Winery.

Each wine, along with other wines featured during this weekend event, will be hot ideas to purchase for your home wine rack or cellar. And if you have a big wine rack or large cellar – each winery boasts producing a grand line up of wines on their main wine lists…at least a dozen wines available for purchase at each winery! Loads of warming choices.  Make a weekend out of it by visiting all the wineries to taste all that they offer; or just day trip it with a visit to just a handy group in a geographic section of the greater Berks County region.  As Winter Warmers is a self-guided tour of the wine trail, maps & directions are available on the wine trail’s website.

The featured wine & warmers pairings are free during this event, but samplings of full tasting menus at select wineries requires a modest fee (which is refundable with purchase of wine).

And the wine trail has Happy New Year tidings to share – addition of a new winery to the trail!  Ridgewood Winery in Birdsboro! Details about the newest addition available on the Berks County Wine Trail website.  More information forthcoming about the newest winery on the trail in the days ahead along with information about the wine trail’s February event: Wine & Chocolate Weekend.
