Cambridge-Lee Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Employees, Retirees and Friends

Reading, PA –  Andrea Funk, chief executive officer of Cambridge-Lee Industries (CLI), addressed a crowd of over 300 guests with this reminder, “In an era where the average life of a Fortune 500 Company is 15 years, Cambridge Lee Industries LLC is proudly celebrating its 75th anniversary of manufacturing copper tubing.”

She went on to give credit to the hard work and dedication of the men and women who worked for CLI with added appreciation to their families.

On October 7, the company brought together the people responsible for the success and longevity of the organization. The campus of CLI had been transformed into a colorful, family- friendly affair with food trucks, giant inflatable interactive games, dunk tanks, car exhibits, plant tours, face painters and a disc jockey.

The goal was to make the workforce, family and friends feel proud of the role they play in the company’s success.

Included among the guests was retiree, Ed Andrews who served at the company’s refinery facility for nearly 45 years. A legacy employee, Andrew’s two sons also followed in his footsteps and currently work as mechanics for the company.

Mr. Andrews made the trip to the Reading facility from Lost Creek, near Shenandoah, PA where he shared with Funk the memories of his lifelong career.

“Ed’s story made me very proud, and served as a reminder of the kind of people we have working here,” said Funk. “There are many employees who have encouraged their children to follow their lead and come into the business.”

One of the most enthusiastically received activities at the event was a dunk tank where senior company executives exposed themselves to a drenching in order to collect funds for the company’s United Way fundraising effort. Also popular, was the automobile contest where employees’ cars were exhibited and judged by children for awards such as, “coolest car” and “fastest-looking.”

The event, in keeping with the company’s family-focus, was conceived and executed by a volunteer team of employees who, with the help of family members, pitched in to help run the games and set up the campus.
