ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright Lions field hockey team saw four athletes be named to the MAC Commonwealth Women’s All-Conference team, announced by the conference on Oct. 30.
Junior Kyra Scerbo earned first team honors, sophomore Jennifer Crumling and senior Lindsey Hecker garnered second team honors, while sophomore Bailey Lehman earned Honorable Mention. The Lions have seen four players earn all-conference honors in two of the last three seasons.
Scerbo earned All-MAC Commonwealth postseason honors for the first time in her Albright career as a defender. She registered a career-high nine defensive saves on the season and helped the Lions post four shutouts on the season. Three of her defensive saves came against #2 ranked Messiah in early October. Scerbo found many ways to shut down any possible breakaways and odd-man rushes that opponents threw at the Lions this past season.
Crumling also earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors for the first time in her career as well at forward. She posted 15 points on the season behind a career-high six goals and three points. Crumling tied for second on the team in points and ranked third in goals. Her biggest output of the season came against Immaculata where she scored three goals which was the most in two seasons by any Lions player. She appeared in all 18 games for the Lions this season.
In her final season at Albright, Hecker garnered All-Commonwealth honors at midfielder after a strong senior year. Hecker started the season strong by scoring three goals in the first three games of the season, and finished with a career-high four goals. Coming into the 2018 season, Hecker just had three points in her collegiate career behind a goal and an assist as she played primarily on defense. Two of her goals were also game-winning goals as well. Hecker also emerged as a valuable midfielder for the Lions in starting all 18 games on the season.
Lehman continued to be a force in the Lions after having a successful freshman campaign in the 2017 season. She set new career-highs with 15 points behind four goals and seven assists. Lehman tied for fourth in the MAC Commonwealth with her seven assists and tied for second on the team with 15 points. Her four goals tied for third on the team with Hecker as she started in all 18 games for the Lions this season.
