In celebration of National Everybody Eats Week, the Thursday, August 27th menu at Cafe Esperanza featured Creamy Lemon Artichoke Penne with Chicken, accompanied by bread, a beautiful fresh salad full of veggies from local farmers and victory gardens and lovely desserts.

Price: Pay What You Can.

The cafe is a ‘One World Everybody Eats’ community kitchen.

According to https://www.oneworldeverybodyeats.org/, “One World Everybody Eats cafes create spaces where people are nourished in body and soul. People come together, eat in dignity, and form strong bonds that foster an interconnected community.” There are more than 60 of these cafes operating in the US, including the newly opened Cafe Esperanza at 105 W. Greenwich Street in Reading.

The cafe’s website explains that through their nonprofit, mission-driven model, all are welcome, and that you may pay for your meal in several ways including the suggested price, a portion of the suggested price, or by volunteering. Proceeds and tips make the next meal possible. You can also purchase ‘tokens’ to share with others who may need a meal or community.
