Reading Pride Celebration Announces Pre-Pride Week Events

Reading Pride Celebration will be hosting a series of pre-Pride events as a prelude to the Reading Pride Festival to be held Sunday, July 17 at Jim Dietrich Park.

The events, in collaboration with the Gables at the Stirling Guest Hotel, Planned Parenthood, Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County, Willow Creek Brewery, Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge, and the Berks History Center seek to celebrate and honor the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community of Berks County and to offer a variety of events to beyond the Pride Festival.

Pre-Pride Pool Party

Learn all about the fantastic services available for folks in the queer community.

The sex education team will be on-site to talk about The Spectrum, their LGBTQ+ youth group that has called Reading home since 2006! Alumni welcome!

The Patient Navigation team will be on-site to answer any questions about Gender Affirming Care services a PP — and can even book your first visit!

There’s a notary on staff that is offering free notarization of forms needed for gender-affirming transitions.

Steal the Pride Glass

Two-Spirit Stories from Indian Country

A collaborative event with the Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge. With a short presentation, Kahoot! games, prizes, & refreshments will also be available.

The Rainbow Letters

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, Reading Pride Celebration is reintroducing The Rainbow Letters: A Living History of the LGBTQA+ Community of Greater Reading. Speakers will talk about the project, along with several interesting discussions by those who were part of important local historical events. Come and experience our history and learn how you can take part in preserving our community’s experiences, events, and artifacts!

Doors open at 6 PM for refreshments and mingling in the museum, and the presentation will follow.
