Katie Broskey, a dedicated Realtor from Keller Williams Platinum Reality, successfully hosted a “Super Swiftie Dance Party for Kids” on Sunday, May 19, at the Eight Twenty Event Space in Wyomissing. The event, which attracted a vibrant crowd of young Taylor Swift fans, raised $2,859 to be donated to two esteemed local charities: Veterans Making a Difference and Mary’s Shelter.

Broskey organized the “Super Swiftie Dance Party for Kids” to create a joyful and impactful event for the community. The idea stemmed from her daughter Addison’s love for Taylor Swift. The event featured a DJ playing Taylor Swift’s biggest hits, a hair tinsel station, and a photo booth with Swift-themed props. Children enjoyed a crafting station where they could make friendship bracelets and got “13” hand tattoos. Broskey saw this as a perfect opportunity to combine fun with philanthropy, supporting causes that hold personal significance to her and her family.

“As a mother and a Realtor, contributing to my community is incredibly important to me,” said Broskey. “The dance party was a wonderful way to celebrate Taylor Swift’s music and support Veterans Making a Difference and Mary’s Shelter. These organizations do incredible work. My husband Matt, a Marine Corps Veteran, has been involved with Veterans Making a Difference for years, and we have witnessed the positive impact they have on veterans. Mary’s Shelter is also dear to me as it provides crucial support to mothers and children in need.”

Susan McFadden, Operating Principal/Owner at Keller Williams Platinum Realty, said, “Culture isn’t just a topic of discussion at Keller Williams; it’s our daily culture to demonstrate care. Katie’s innovative spirit and drive to organize and execute the Super Swiftie Dance Party for Veterans Making a Difference and Mary’s Shelter exemplify our culture in action.”

Broskey and her family, her husband Matt and their two daughters Addison and Natale, live in the Governor Mifflin School District.

Veterans Making a Difference, led by veterans Liz and Doug Graybill, operates the Veterans Social Center in Reading, PA. The organization provides meals, a monthly food pantry, bus passes, gas cards, and connects veterans with essential services. They also ensure unclaimed veterans receive proper burials at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors and host an annual flag retirement ceremony for worn-out American flags. Matt is a Marine Corps Veteran who served in Iraq in 2003. His ongoing support with Veterans Making a Difference underscores the family’s dedication to this cause.

Mary’s Shelter, located in Reading, provides essential support to pregnant women and mothers in need. The organization offers shelter, food, clothing, and comprehensive care to ensure the well-being of both mothers and their children. Katie’s connection to Mary’s Shelter was inspired by her own experiences as a mother, understanding the importance of supporting other mothers during challenging times.
