Helping Harvest is pleased to announce two new Board Members elected on Friday, June 28. Dan Buckley is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the institution. Following a brief career in banking, Dan spent 23 years as a teacher, including the past 18 years at Whitfield Elementary in the Wilson School District. He retired from teaching at the end of the 2023-24 school year. Dan and his wife, Jo, have two grown children and live with their pup, Wrigley, in Sinking Spring.

Dan has supported Helping Harvest in various ways over the years, most notably by organizing groups from the Wilson School District to assist in group packing for more than a decade. He looks forward to continuing his support of and advancing the mission of Helping Harvest through his work on the Board of Directors. Jay Worrall, President of Helping Harvest, said, “Dan has been a long-time volunteer for Helping Harvest and our Weekender Program, so he greatly understands our mission and will be a valuable resource as we continue to develop programs to meet the nutritional needs of children in Berks and Schuylkill Counties.”

Helping Harvest is also welcoming Susan Farr from AAA Reading Berks. Susan Farr is a lifelong resident of the Pottsville Area, where she resides with her husband, David. They have two daughters, Kelly (McCord) Ebling and Megan McCord-Selinger, and five grandchildren. In her free time, Susan enjoys travel (including RVing), reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, especially at their various sporting events.

Susan earned her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Penn State (Schuylkill) and her Bachelor’s Degree from Alvernia University. She has spent her entire career with the American Automobile Association, having spent 30 years as the Administrative Assistant at AAA Schuylkill and the past nine years at AAA Reading-Berks as the Vice President of Human Resources. She has earned the designation of SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Managers-Certified Professional) and is a member of the SHRM Berks Chapter. Jay Worrall stated, “Susan will be a great asset to our organization because of her advanced knowledge of Human Resources, as well as her ability to offer insight and connections to better serve residents in Schuylkill County.”
