Connections Work hosted its annual Impact Awards Breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading on Thursday, April 16, welcoming close to 250 attendees for a powerful and inspiring morning celebrating transformation, partnership, and community impact.
The event honored one individual as a Life Improvement Ambassador, six individuals and organizations with the Paul J. Hoh Impact Award, and three clients as recipients of the Kip Frasso Outstanding Transformation Award.
The Connections Work Life Improvement Ambassador Award is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the organization, championed its mission, and advanced its work to inspire hope and support second chances. This year, Connections Work proudly honored Dan Fogarty, recently retired Director of Workforce Development and Chief Operating Officer for the Berks County Workforce Development Board. Dan played a pivotal role in the growth and success of Connections Work’s reentry workforce development programs and has been a tireless advocate for both job seekers and employers throughout his career.
The Paul J. Hoh Impact Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses whose work advances the mission of Connections Work by expanding opportunities, strengthening families, and creating meaningful community impact. Named after one of the organization’s founders and its first Board President, the award was presented in 2026 to: the United Way of Berks County, Empire Group, The House That Fur Built, The Student Conservation Association Inc., Reading School District’s Early Career Academy, and Connections Work Mother’s/Father’s Voice Volunteers.
The Kip Frasso Outstanding Transformation Award recognizes current or former Connections Work clients who, through determination and perseverance, have overcome significant challenges, improved their lives, and are now making a positive difference in the community. This year’s honorees were Samuel Cruz, Chris McLaughlin, and Aimee Geiken.
Connections Work is Berks County’s leading provider of reentry programming, serving individuals with justice involvement and others facing significant barriers, as well as their families. The organization remains committed to the belief that life-changing success is possible for everyone when barriers are removed, and individuals are supported, empowered, and given the tools and opportunities to build a better future.
