Join the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) as it convenes state leaders for Legislative Roundtable: Healthcare Workforce Pipeline from Education to Employment in Berks County. The roundtable will take place on Friday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Reading Hospital Conference Center located at 420 S. 5th Ave. in West Reading.

Senator Judy Schwank (D-Berks, 11th District), Representative David Zimmerman (R-Lancaster, 99th District), and Executive Deputy Secretary Kristen Rodack, Pennsylvania Department of Health, will address the growing urgency of strengthening Berks County’s healthcare workforce pipeline.

The discussion will focus on aligning education, training, and employment systems to better support local talent — from expanding apprenticeships and clinical placements to improving retention of workers already rooted in the community.

The group will examine the barriers that prevent many residents from entering or advancing in healthcare careers, including cost, transportation, and limited access to support services, and will outline policy priorities such as funding for workforce training, paid clinical experiences, credentialing pathways, and wraparound supports.

Designed for healthcare providers, educators, training organizations, and community partners, the event aims to spark collaboration and surface actionable strategies to build a more inclusive, accessible, and resilient healthcare workforce in the region.

This event series is sponsored by East Penn Manufacturing Co. and Visions Federal Credit Union.

Registration is required. Cost is $25.00 for GRCA members and future GRCA members. Tickets include light fare and networking. Register at greaterreading.org/roundtable.
