From Reading Hospital
Reading Hospital invites women across the community to take a well-deserved pause and focus on themselves at “Grow & Glow: Thrive, Shine, and Take Care of You,” a free women’s health and wellness event.
The free event will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lauer’s Park Elementary School, 251 N. 2nd St., Reading. Women are encouraged to stop by at any time – whether for a quick visit or to stay for the full experience.
Attendees can enjoy a light brunch, mocktails, chair massages, and health screenings. You’ll also be able to connect with healthcare professionals, schedule a mammogram, and make your own spring bouquet at our Flower Bar. Guests will receive a Tower Health tumbler cup with health-and-wellness goodies inside while supplies last.
“Take a break, bring a friend, and come as you are because this day is for you,” said Desha Dickson, Vice President of Community Wellness at Reading Hospital – Tower Health. “We’re creating a relaxed event filled with good vibes and valuable health information. We want every woman to leave feeling refreshed, informed, and inspired.”
Additional activities include:
- DJ Serrano will provide music and a fun photo booth in the courtyard, where some outdoor seating will also be available to mingle with friends and enjoy brunch.
- Hospital employee and local dance instructor Wanda Colon will lead Zumba classes at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. in the gym.
- Health Hub in the cafeteria, where attendees can receive free glucose, blood pressure, and dermatology screenings.
- Q&A Sessions with medical professionals will be held at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m. Topics include: perimenopause, breast health and mammograms, and stroke and heart care.
- Learn about Reading Hospital services, including Pharmacy, Public Health, and Genetic Testing.
- 20+ local community, health, and wellness resource tables.
Whether attending for a quick screening, a conversation with a provider, or simply a moment of self-care, “Grow & Glow” is designed to meet women where they are and make wellness accessible, supportive, and fun.
“Women are often balancing so much – family, work, and everything in between,” Dickson said. “‘Grow & Glow’ is a chance to pause, focus on yourself, and get your health questions answered while enjoying a little fun, too.”
The event is supported by the Reading Hospital Foundation. Registration is requested but not required. Register online or call 484-628-7599.
