From Berks County Orthopedics
Berks County Orthopedics will celebrate the grand opening of its newly relocated Reading office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 12 p.m., at 640 Walnut St., Suite #202, Reading.
After 21 years at 438 Walnut St. in Reading, Berks County Orthopedics has moved into a new state-of-the-art facility designed to support accessible, professional, and patient-focused orthopedic and therapy care.
The new office is located within the redeveloped former Community General Hospital building, a downtown Reading medical property connected to the city’s healthcare history. Constructed in 1968, the building is described in project information as the sole remaining hospital structure in downtown Reading. The property has been modernized by Shuman Development Group/Invest in Reading as part of a major renovation project.
Project details list the Community General Hospital redevelopment at 242,000 square feet, six floors, a $22 million project budget, and completion in 2025. The building is categorized as medical space and includes healthcare tenants such as Penn State Health, Haven Behavioral Health, and Berks Community Health Center.
The grand opening celebration will welcome patients, vendors, community partners, friends, neighbors, business leaders, and members of the media to tour the new space, meet the Berks County Orthopedics team, enjoy food and refreshments, listen to music from a DJ, and participate in the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“After more than two decades at our former Walnut Street location, we are proud to welcome the community into a modernized space that helps us continue serving patients throughout Reading and Berks County,” said Brian Kemble. “It is especially meaningful to be part of a redeveloped downtown medical building with deep roots in Reading’s healthcare history.”
Berks County Orthopedics provides orthopedic medical care and therapy services for patients with orthopedic injuries, pain complaints, functional limitations, and recovery needs. The new Reading location reflects the practice’s continued commitment to serving the local community in a convenient and modern healthcare setting.
The public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration, tour the facility, meet the team, enjoy food and refreshments, and participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
