From Berks County Intermediate Unit
Children and teens in Berks County and surrounding communities who are coping with the loss of a loved one will once again have access to a safe, supportive space this summer through Camp Connect, a free grief and loss camp offered by the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU). Now in its 12th year, Camp Connect has assisted more than 400 young people as they navigate the death of someone close to them, including a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other loved one.
Designed for youth ages 6 to 16, Camp Connect provides a unique four-half-day experience that blends traditional summer camp activities with grief education and emotional support. Through art, music, games, and other engaging activities, participants are given meaningful opportunities to process their emotions, build connections, and remember their loved ones in healthy, meaningful ways.
All sessions are facilitated by trained volunteers and mental health professionals who create a compassionate, caring space for children and teens to process their grief.
