From Safe Berks
Safe Berks is proud to announce that Erica Caceres has officially accepted the role of Permanent Director of Development, bringing her passion for the mission and dedication to serving survivors into this permanent leadership position.
Since joining Safe Berks, Caceres has embraced the organization’s mission with enthusiasm and compassion, helping to strengthen community connections through fundraising, outreach, marketing, and donor engagement. Her passion for sharing the stories behind the mission has helped raise awareness and inspire support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout Berks County.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Erica join our team,” said Safe Berks’ CEO, Beth Garrigan. “Her enthusiasm is contagious, her commitment to our mission is unwavering, and her experience as a Board member has allowed her to step seamlessly into her role. From helping plan and execute three major events to elevating our social media presence, Erica has already made a tremendous impact, and I am excited to see how her creativity and passion will continue to raise awareness and support for Safe Berks.”
Caceres shared that what made the decision easy was the people. From staff and leadership to volunteers and Development Committee members, she found a community deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of survivors every day.
“What makes Safe Berks so special is the people,” said Caceres. “The compassion, dedication, and belief in this mission are felt in every corner of the organization. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this work alongside such an inspiring team, helping create hope, healing, and a safe space for stories that are often left untold. Every story matters, and I am proud to support a mission that reminds survivors they are not alone.”
As Director of Development, Caceres will continue leading fundraising initiatives, donor relations, strategic marketing, community engagement efforts, and special events that directly support Safe Berks’ lifesaving programs and services.

About Safe Berks
Founded in 1976, Safe Berks began when 12 women in Reading came together to provide hotline support, counseling, and shelter for survivors of domestic violence.
Originally known as Berks Women in Crisis, the organization became Safe Berks in 2016 to reflect its commitment to serving all survivors.
Today, Safe Berks provides free and lifesaving services, including emergency shelter, counseling, legal and medical advocacy, and prevention education, working to build a community free from violence.
