From Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS®
The Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® (R-BAR) is excited to announce the seventh annual 5K Run for Shelter, returning on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the beautiful Gring’s Mill Recreation Area.
This impactful community event brings runners, walkers, families, and local businesses together to support two vital housing organizations — Habitat for Humanity of Berks County and Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks Inc. Both nonprofits are dedicated to expanding access to safe, affordable housing and strengthening neighborhoods throughout Berks County.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply enjoying a morning outdoors with friends, the 5K Run for Shelter offers an opportunity to make every step count.
A run with purpose
Participants will enjoy a flat, scenic course along the Union Canal Trail, professionally timed by Pretzel City Sports and open to all experience levels. From competitive runners to first-time walkers, everyone is welcome to be part of this meaningful event.
Beyond the race itself, participants will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact while enjoying a fun and memorable morning with the community:
- Support local housing initiatives: Every registration directly benefits programs that help families achieve stable housing.
- Connect as a community: Teams, families, and individuals come together for a shared cause.
- Enjoy race day perks: Music, refreshments, awards, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Event schedule
Registration opens at 8 a.m. Race begins at 9 a.m. Awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.
Early bird perks
Sign up by Friday, Sept. 4, to lock in the $25.00 early bird rate and guarantee your race t-shirt. After that, the fee is $30.00 (while shirts last).
