Adopt, Don't Shop: Berks County Animal Rescues Celebrate International Cat Day

In celebration of International Cat Day on Aug. 8, Berks Community Television is collaborating with the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Humane Pennsylvania, and One by One Cat Rescue to help these adoptable pets find their forever homes!

Hi! I’m Snoozy Susie, a 7-year-old female domestic short-hair brown tabby!

Susie McSusan sounds less like a cat and more like the nicest lady in your neighborhood who always remembers your birthday — and honestly, it fits. She’s polite, gentle, and just about as sweet as they come.

Susie was found sick and alone outside, but it was obvious she had once been someone’s beloved companion. She’s never lost her kind heart or her faith in people.

Hi! I’m Cinder, a 3-year-old male domestic short-hair!

Cinder is a very, very sweet gentleman with a big love for head rubs, cheek scritches, and basically any form of gentle admiration you’re willing to offer. Cinder is the kind of cat who believes affection is a full-time job — and he takes his responsibilities seriously. Lean in for a quick hello? Offer a cheek scratch? Congratulations, you’ve just made his entire day.

Despite his smoky name, Cinder is all warmth and softness. He has a calm, loving nature and a talent for making people feel instantly appreciated (mostly by politely demanding more pets). He’s happiest when he’s close to his favorite humans, soaking up attention like it’s the best thing in the world — because to him, it is.

Pippin is a charming orange cat with a bright personality to match his sunny coat. He’s curious, playful, and always ready to turn everyday moments into a little adventure. Whether he’s chasing toys or curling up for a cozy nap, Pippin brings warmth and fun wherever he goes. He’s looking for a loving home where he can share his affectionate nature and lively spirit.
