All Souls Ecumenical Catholic Communion (ECC) and Calvary United Church of Christ (UCC) present a concert and fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at All Souls ECC/Calvary UCC, 640 Centre Ave., Reading. Tickets are only $10.00, and all profits benefit The LGBT Center of Greater Reading and Reading Pride Celebration. A reception will be held after the concert.
Bobby Jo Valentine is an award-winning singer/songwriter from the windswept coastline of Northern California. He writes poetic, searching songs that connect deeply with people from all walks of life. His stories are sometimes funny, sometimes moving, and always deeply resonant. He has performed at festivals and conferences around the country — Wild Goose Festival, TEDx, and the Emerge Conference, to name a few — and plays concerts around the country for a myriad of venues — faith communities, pride festivals, and house concerts.
Bobby has won Songwriter of the Year at the West Coast Songwriters Association and several other awards. His music has been featured in commercials, feature films, wedding ceremonies, and his greatest honor — YouTube videos with puppies. His songs have been sung by choruses around the country, including the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and the Turtle Creek Chorale.
“Bobby Jo has both the spirit and songs to bring us back to believing. Whatever our faith, he has the humor, compassion, words, and music to help us believe again,” said Dar Williams.
Tickets are available on the All Souls ECC Facebook page or at the door.
