Reading Hospital to Host Interactive Simulations During National Community Health Worker Awareness Week

Reading Hospital will recognize National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, Aug. 24-28, with two interactive simulations designed to bring awareness to the challenges that patients and community members face that can affect health, well-being, and access to care.

The Poverty Simulation and Reentry Simulation will give participants an opportunity to experience real-world challenges related to housing, employment, access to health care, transportation, and finances. Participants will leave with a greater appreciation for the challenges individuals may face and the vital role that collaboration among healthcare teams, community health workers, and community organizations plays in reducing barriers and improving health outcomes.

Poverty Simulation
Tuesday, Aug. 25 | 2-4:30 p.m.
Reading Hospital Conference Center Rooms 1, 2, and 3

Reentry Simulation
Thursday, Aug. 27 | 2-4:30 p.m.
Reading Hospital Conference Center Rooms 1, 2, and 3

The free simulations are open to employees and community partners interested in learning more about barriers that can affect individuals and families. Volunteers are also needed to assist with set-up and facilitation. Registration is requested.
