As libraries across the nation celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month this September, Berks County Public Libraries is pleased to unveil a limited-edition library card design in honor of its 40th anniversary. This commemorative card was designed by Amanda Kusant, staff member at the Spring Township and West Lawn-Wyomissing Hills libraries, and features iconic symbols from the local area including the Reading Pagoda and Pennsylvania Dutch distelfink.
Earlier this year, community members cast their votes to determine the winning artwork from among 11 entries submitted by library staff and affiliates, making the anniversary card a true reflection of local pride and participation. Whether signing up for a first library card or replacing an existing one, patrons will have the opportunity to carry home a unique keepsake in celebration of the Library System’s 40th anniversary.
The new card design can be requested at any Berks County Public Libraries location beginning Sept. 1, 2026, and will remain available while supplies last. Learn more about what you can unlock with a library card by visiting berkslibraries.org.
