ProBerco Celebrates Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

By Jessica Penchard, ProBerco

ProBerco proudly joins human service organizations across the nation in celebrating Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week (Sept. 13-19), honoring the dedicated professionals who provide essential support and services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Direct Support Professionals play a vital role in helping individuals live, work, and succeed in their communities. Whether assisting with daily living activities, supporting employment goals, facilitating community involvement, or encouraging personal growth and independence, DSPs make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

“Direct Support Professionals are at the heart of ProBerco and its mission,” said Jessica Penchard, Development and Public Relations Director at ProBerco. “Their compassion, dedication, and commitment empower individuals to realize their potential, develop life skills, build relationships, and enjoy meaningful lives in our community.”

As Berks County’s only Select Tier Provider for residential services, ProBerco is proud of this achievement as it is a reflection of its workforce’s ability to deliver consistent services in a professional and compassionate manner. ProBerco DSPs provide high-quality support through community living, employment and vocational training, and Adult Training and Community Participation programs. These services help individuals live meaningful everyday lives while promoting choice, dignity, independence, and full participation in their communities.

Throughout DSP Recognition Week, ProBerco will celebrate its direct support professionals through special recognition activities and expressions of appreciation. ProBerco encourages community members, families, and supporters to join in thanking DSPs for their invaluable contributions to the healthcare industry.
