- First aid kit
- Crucial medications
- High-calorie, non-perishable food and water
- Blankets and extra warm clothing
- Windshield scraper and brush
- Cell phone and charger
- Flashlight (with working batteries), matches, or lighter
- Spare tire (make sure jack and lug wrench are in vehicle)
- Hazard triangle (with reflectors) or road flares
- Jumper cables or small battery charger
