The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of August 2026.

Saturday, Aug. 1 | Knee Deep in the Creek | 10 a.m. to noon @ Angora Fruit Farm
Families and friends — come on out for a look into the creek critters that call our waters home and learn why they are so important. Geared toward families with children ages 6+.
Free. | Registration is required.

Saturday, Aug. 1 | World Ranger Day | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Meet local rangers from Berks, Chester, and Lancaster counties and beyond. Learn what it takes to be a park ranger — check out trucks, boats, UTVs, and gather stamps to earn your own junior ranger badge.

Saturday, Aug. 8 | Smokey’s Birthday Celebration | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Visit with conservation and forestry vendors, play games, get Smokey Bear swag, and learn about efforts to preserve forests and open spaces. Perk Up Truck, a food truck, will be on site.

Sunday, Aug. 9 | Concert: Flannel | 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. @ Gring’s Mill
Moved from July! Bring your own chairs and blankets, and stay the evening! Heart & Hearth Cuisine and Greco’s of Lititz, food trucks, will be on site, and parking is free.

Wednesday, Aug. 12 | Drop-In Art Camp | 9 a.m. to noon @ Berks County Heritage Center
Campers ages 7 to 12 can expect to create among the canopy of the Union Canal’s beautiful trails. This is a drop-off program.
$20.00/child. | Registration is required.

Friday, Aug. 14 | Concert: Hot Club of Reading | 5:30 to 8 p.m. @ Gring’s Mill
Bring your own chairs and blankets, and stay the evening! Heart & Hearth Cuisine and Greco’s of Lititz, food trucks, will be on site, and parking is free.

Saturday, Aug. 15 | Nature Journaling | 9 to 10:30 a.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Come on out for this workshop series to focus on the art of nature journaling. Learn about ways you can practice mindfulness by creating your own journal inspired by your surroundings.

Tuesday, Aug. 18 | Forest Friends Pop-Up | 9 to 11 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Families and friends — come on out and explore the forest of the farm. Help identify the summer wildlife and Pennsylvania species. Geared towards families with children ages 6+.

Thursday, Aug. 20 | Garden Folklore | 7 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Join Sarah Linsenmaier for a lighthearted and whimsical discussion on herbal and garden folklore. Sarah will share a blend of botanical history, herbalism, herb garden folklore, and culinary uses of a select few herb garden favorites.

Sunday, Aug. 23 | Folk Printed Fabrics | 1 to 3 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Learn historical block printing and stamping techniques and modern batik dyeing to create beautiful folk printed fabrics to take home. Ages 16+.
$15.00/person | Registration is required.

Friday, Aug. 28 | Concert: Pure Jerry | 5:30 to 8 p.m. @ Gring’s Mill
Bring your own chairs and blankets, and stay the evening! Tony Luke’s and Greco’s of Lititz, food trucks, will be on site, and parking is free.
