The  Great Gatsby:  A Live Radio Play AUDITIONS

WHEN: Sunday, January 12th & Monday, January 13th: 6:30 – 8:30 PM

WHERE: ROOM 120 @ Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks Campus

Video Audition Submissions: Let the stage manager know if you cannot attend either audition date but would still like to audition. Video audition submissions will need an intro slate (who you are) and choice of 1-2 minute monologue. Video submissions will be accepted until January 13th.

PERFORMANCES: May 16th and 17th @ 8:00 PM, May 18th @ 2:00 PM

SUMMARY: “F. Scott Fitzgerald’s beloved classic comes to life as a 1940s radio broadcast in this spirited adaptation of The Great Gatsby. An ensemble brings more than two dozen characters to the WBFR radio station for a live broadcast, punctuated by 40s-era commercials. A story of triumph and tragedy that reflects the decadence of the Jazz Age and the perils of the American Dream. Still, ain’t we got fun?

ADAPTATION

This will not be your typical live radio show with talented actors standing in a straight light delivering lines with scripts in hands. The actors will be expected to memorize their lines and will not have scripts in their hands. Stylized blocking, inventive scene transitions, and live sound effects will add exciting new layers of engagement for the audience while maintaining the vibes and style of a classic live radio show.

There will be a handful of cast members who will not have lines but will either be performing the live sound effects or a part of the scene transition team.
