Reading, PA—Humane Pennsylvania is teaming up with Redner’s and Purina® to help homeless animals find loving, happy homes during The Humane Society of Berks County’s Shop & Adopt Free Adoption Weekend! Adoption fees are waived for all adoptable animals at the HSBC, located at 1801 N. 11th Street in Reading, from Friday, September 29 through Sunday, October 1.
Redner’s and Purina® expressed interest in forming a partnership with Humane Pennsylvania to promote animal wellness among local families and their pets. In doing so, the companies offered to co-sponsor pet adoptions for the entire three-day weekend.
“At Redner’s, we are always open to new ways to help out in our surrounding communities,” says Meredith McGrath, Corporate Dietician at Redner’s. “Our friends at Purina® approached us a few months ago and wanted to do more! Since we were already participating in Humane Pennsylvania’s Walk for the Animals, we thought it would be a natural way to keep the momentum going and keep the focus on helping animals!”
“At Purina®, your pet is our passion and homeless animals deserve to be someone’s pet,” says Elaine Nogle, Retail Sales Account Representative at Nestle-Purina®. “Redner’s believes in the hearts of their customers, so we wanted to partner with them and The Humane Society to help animals find loving homes through a fun event for the whole family.”
Adoptions are free and include Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-Day Adoption Health Guarantee, spaying or neutering (prior to adoption), vaccinations and microchip registration. Normal adoption policies still apply.
In addition, Redner’s is hosting four Shop & Adopt events at its retail locations in Berks County:
· Thursday, September 28 – 5471 Pottsville Pike, Leesport, from 3-5:30 PM
· Friday, September 29 – 300 Kenhorst Plaza, Reading, from 3-5:30 PM

· Sunday, October 1 – 1179 Ben Franklin Hwy. W., Douglassville from 10 AM-12:30 PM
