Red Cross to Honor Community Heroes at Annual Breakfast

Seeking Nominations for Awards throughout Berks County

READING, PA — Do you know a hero? Someone who has saved a life? The American Red Cross in Berks County is looking to recognize ordinary people who have performed extraordinary acts. They’ll be recognized during the American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast Celebration, May 10th, 2018.

“We want to take this time to thank the heroes in our community,” said Adrian Grieve, Executive Director for the of Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross. “These heroes are our friends and our neighbors. They help us fulfill our lifesaving mission and deserve to be recognized for their heroic acts.”

The Red Cross is now accepting nominations and your help is needed in identifying and recognizing our local heroes from Berks County. The following categories will be honored:

Fire Safety HeroLaw Enforcement HeroMedical Hero911 DispatchAdult Good Samaritan (ages over 18 years)Youth Good Samaritan (ages 17 & under)Military HeroAnimal Rescue HeroCommunity Impact Hero

The nominees can be a professionally trained lifesaver (police, fire, EMT, doctor, nurse, etc.) or a Good Samaritan who saw something and did the right thing. The deadline to nominate a hero from 2017 is February 3, 2018.
